Terms and conditions for home removals

Effective Date: 30th November 2024

These terms and conditions govern the services provided by Expert Movers (“we,” “us,” or “our”) to our customers (“you” or “your”). By booking or using our services, you confirm your agreement to these terms.

1. Definitions

  • Services: The removal, transportation, and/or storage of your goods as specified in the agreed booking.

  • Goods: Items you request us to transport or store.

2. Our Responsibilities

  • We will provide the services with reasonable care, skill, and professionalism.

  • We will use suitable vehicles and equipment to transport your goods safely.

  • We are not liable for delays or service disruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control, including traffic, severe weather, or restricted access to the property.

3. Your Responsibilities

3.1 General Obligations

  • Ensure all goods are securely packed and ready for transport unless packing is provided by us.

  • Inform us in writing of any items requiring special handling or with a value exceeding £150.

  • Ensure parking and access arrangements are in place for both collection and delivery points.

  • Provide accurate and timely information regarding the details of your move.

 

3.2 Pre-Move Obligations

You must:

  • Ensure all goods are packed and secured appropriately unless packing is provided by us.

  • Clearly label fragile items or goods requiring special handling.

  • Notify us in advance of any items exceeding the liability limit of £150 per item.

  • Arrange for adequate insurance for goods exceeding our liability limits if required.

4. Liability for Loss or Damage

4.1 Standard Liability

  • Our liability for loss or damage to goods is limited to £150 per item unless otherwise agreed in writing before the service date.

  • We will not be liable for the following:

  • Loss or damage to items packed by you or third parties.

  • Damage caused by wear and tear, inherent defects, or pre-existing conditions of the items.

  • Perishable goods or items not fit for transport.

 

4.2 Notification of Damage

  • Any loss or damage must be reported to us in writing within 7 days of delivery.

 

4.3 Acknowledgement of Liability Limits

  • By using our services, you acknowledge and accept the limitation of liability of £150 per item for loss or damage unless otherwise agreed in writing and additional coverage purchased.

  • You further acknowledge that failure to notify us of the value of items or purchase additional insurance may result in insufficient compensation for loss or damage.

5. Insurance

  • While we take every precaution to protect your goods, we strongly recommend purchasing moving day insurance for additional coverage beyond our liability limit.

  • You are responsible for arranging insurance for items exceeding our liability limit of £150 per item.

6. Excluded Items

  • We do not transport or store the following items:

  • Hazardous materials, flammable substances, or illegal items.

  • Jewellery, cash, or items of exceptional value unless agreed in writing.

  • Perishable goods requiring refrigeration.

7. Pricing and Payments

  • A deposit may be required to secure your booking.

  • Full payment must be made upon completion of the service unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Late payments may incur additional charges.

8. Cancellations and Changes

  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the service date may incur a cancellation fee.

  • Changes to your booking must be communicated at least 48 hours in advance and may result in additional charges.

9. Access and Parking

  • It is your responsibility to ensure adequate parking and access to the property.

  • Additional charges may apply if our team encounters delays due to restricted access or parking issues.

10. Properties with Stairs or Difficult Access

  • For flats, apartments, or properties with more than one flight of stairs, additional charges between £50 and £100 may apply depending on the complexity of access.

11. Complaints

  • Complaints must be submitted in writing to expertmovers2024@outlook.com within 7 days of the service date.

  • We aim to resolve complaints within 14 days of receipt.

12. Limitations of Liability

  • Our liability for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, or goodwill, is excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.

  • Our total liability under these terms will not exceed the amount paid for the service.

13. Force Majeure

We shall not be held liable for delays, damages, or failures to perform caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Extreme weather conditions.

  • Traffic incidents or road closures.

  • Acts of God, fire, flood, or natural disaster.

  • Strikes, lockouts, or industrial action.

  • Government restrictions or emergencies.

14. Governing Law

  • These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Agreement

  • By booking and using our services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
